Message from APS Kitchen Director concerning School Nutrition Standards


Today, at APS, there was an alarm set off for an active threat. After consulting with law enforcement, it was agreed there was no active threat at APS today but rather this was the result of the construction outside the front office that triggered the alarm. Thank you to all staff and students for efficiently securing in place and waiting for law enforcement to clear the building.

Friendly reminder when planning cold lunches for your child. We are a peanut/peanut product free school. Peanuts and items with peanut products brought to the school will be removed. Here are a couple of alternatives to peanut butter!

The APS School Board has just approved the Severe Allergy Handbook during their meeting on 8/14/2024. To ensure the safety of our students and staff, we will be a latex, peanut, and products containing peanuts free environment at APS. While tree nuts are generally allowed, please be mindful of allergen-restricted areas. Please note that peanuts and items with peanut products brought to the school will be removed.
We understand that severe allergies are a growing concern, and as public educators, it's our duty to create a safe environment for everyone. We kindly ask for your help in keeping our school a safe space for all.
An email has been sent to parents with a detailed letter and the Severe Allergy Handbook. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Nurse Heen or our Administration.

We are looking for flag football coaches for grades 1-2 and 3-4. Please contact the school if you are interested.


Friendly reminder all 3-8 grade students need to have planners. Planners need to be purchased at the office for $5 each.

Middle school and high school students will report to the following rooms in the morning to receive an updated schedule. Locker assignments will be posted by the library, science room and Mrs. Rustand's room.

School Construction Update for Parents
Main Entrance Closure Notice:
The main entrance of our school, Door 2, will be closed until October due to ongoing construction. During this period, there will be new entrance and exit protocols.
• Bus Students: Student will continue to enter and exit on the North side of the school, Doors 12 and 16.
• PK-12 Student Morning Drop Off (7:30am) and Pickup (3:40-4:00): Students will enter through the Southwest high school door, Door 3.
• Parents, Visitors, and Students outside of drop off and pickup windows: Use the Comet Fitness Center entrance, Door 6.
In October, a tunnel will be built to allow safe entrance and exit through the main entrance (Door 2) once again.
Monthly Updates: We will continue to provide monthly updates on the progress of the construction as well as any changes that affect students, staff, and the community.

Volleyball Practice for grades 7-12 starts on August 19th at 4:30pm. All athletes MUST have a physical form handed in and all fees must be paid to the office prier the first day of practice.

Correction - Attention 5th and 6th-grade tackle football players and parents - practice has been CHANGED to 6:00 - 7:30 pm on Monday and Tuesday (August 12th and 13th). Disregard the last post, again, the correct time is 6:00 - 7:30 pm.

Reminder: all 7-12th grade football players are required to have a sports physical turned in at practice tonight, in order to practice.
