Alexander Public School District has enrolled with STOPit, the leading technology platform for schools that deters and controls harmful or inappropriate conduct. STOPit empowers students with an easy app to safely and anonymously report anything of concern to school officials – from cyberbullying to threats of violence or self-harm. STOPit empowers students to stand up for themselves and others while giving our schools the insight we need to keep students safe.
With STOPit, students can submit anonymous reports containing text, photos, or video. Administrators are then able to manage incidents in a backend management system called STOPit Admin. STOPit Admin provides efficient and powerful investigative tools to our staff, including the ability to message with the reporter, which will allow us to address issues instantly.
STOPit does more than just help schools address incidents and mitigate risk. STOPit will also help us go beyond reacting to bullying and inappropriate behavior, and instead start deterring it. As young people continue to engage more with technology every day, we are taking a proactive step to empower our students to become Upstanders in our community in the way that they feel most comfortable. We believe our adoption of STOPit is an important step in our continued effort to provide a positive school climate and a safe learning environment for our students.

GAME CHANGE: White Shield has requested a time change for todays Girls Basketball game. The Varsity Girls Basketball game tonight, Jan 11th, in White Shield has changed to 6:00 pm.
PLEASE NOTE GAME CHANGE: The Girls Basketball game on Monday Jan 11th has been changed to ONLY a varsity game at 5:00 pm. The game will be in White Shield.

Youth Wrestling Registration for Preschool-6th grade is now open. Practice starts at 6pm on Monday, January 11th. Preschool-1st grade will practice till 7pm and 2nd-6th grade will practice till 730pm. You must be registered before the first practice. Registration link is attached below.

PLEASE NOTE GAME SCHEDULE CHANGE:
The girls basketball game scheduled for Thursday, Jan 14th in Alexander has been changed from 3 games to ONLY 2. The JV will start at 5:45 pm followed by Varsity at 7:15 pm.
National Honor Society Applications - Juniors and seniors who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher are invited to apply to be a member of the APS National Honor Society. Students may inquire with Mrs. Faller if you have questions. Applications will be found in the office and are due January 28th.

Good Afternoon Comet Families, the USDA has extended the free breakfast and lunch waivers through June 2021. APS continues to encourage you to fill out a Free and Reduced Application even with this waiver because our federal funding is linked to the number of Free or Reduced students. Happy New Year!
Please note the changes for the upcoming Girls Basketball games:
Tomorrows game, Jan 5th, will be one varsity game vs Burke County starting at 6 pm.
Thursdays game, Jan 7th, time has changed to 5pm. Game is at Williston Trinity Christian vs Missouri Ridge.
As we ready for the second semester, please remember these items:
1. Student schedules for grades 7-12 will be available Monday morning in front of Mrs. Faller's office.
2. Upon arrival HS students shall report to their first hour class; elementary students will eat breakfast in their classroom or go outside for recess.
3. Water bottles MUST be clear or translucent.
4. All cell phones MUST be turned in during first hour classes every day.

The Alexander Christmas Parade has been postponed to the end of January weather permitting.
Alexander School will be hosting Hunter Safety classes January 8th & 22nd, February 5th & 12th. More information will be sent out later this week.
Please read the attached letter regarding attendance to athletic events during our winter season. The guidelines are based on the current regulations as established by the NDHSAA.

Due to the extension of Governor Burgum's mask mandate, we have had to adjust our plans for our Christmas parade. Letters detailing the parade were sent home with students in grades PK-6 today and will be emailed to all parents as well. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the school. Hope to see everyone there!
If you haven't had the opportunity to pick a Giving Tree ornament, please stop by the school or have your student take one home. Be sure to write down which one you take and have them back to school no later than Wednesday, December 16th. Thank you to all who have participated so far.
