The North Dakota Association of Student Councils hosts an annual state conference. At this conference, each school creates a tie blanket with materials purchased by the individual councils. This year the students of North Dakota decided to honor our EMTs and First Responders in our own communities with the blankets. High School Student Council honored Ed Rettig at the home girls' game last week.

Dear APS Families,
We want to inform you that Alexander Public School was affected by the recent nationwide PowerSchool data breach. The North Dakota IT Department is diligently working with all school districts across the state to identify the scope of the incident per school.
PowerSchool has been restored by the state. Parents and students will need to create new passwords when logging in again.
If your PowerSchool password was similar to or the same as passwords for other personal accounts, we strongly recommend updating those passwords immediately for added security.
Recommended from NDIT in creating passwords:
• Password length should be at least 12 characters. Industry recommendation today is at least 15 characters.
• Include letters, numbers, and special characters.
• If you use a 15-character password, change the password annually or sooner if you detect the password has been compromised.
o Shorter passwords should be changed more frequently.
• Avoid common information found on your social media accounts (child’s name, geographic features near your location, geographical sports teams).
• Never reuse passwords (same password for multiple sites).
We understand the concern this may cause and will share more information as it becomes available. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work through this situation.
Sincerely,
Leslie Bieber
Superintendent
Alexander Public School

As we prepare to return to school on January 6th, students in grades 6-12 will not be transitioning into their second semester classes right away. Students will attend their semester one classes on Monday and Tuesday so that all finals can be completed. Due to the snow day on December 19th, some students missed out on their final exams that were scheduled for that day. On Wednesday students will be given a semester 2 class schedule.
